After 3 minutes, I dispensed the hot water and I found that it has reached a consistent 78°C on my kitchen thermometer. I was little bit worried that maybe the temperature can fluctuate with the continuous dispensing, so I did the testing again after filling two continuous cups of the hot water.
After the second cup, the temperature was holding steady at 76°C, which is well inside the acceptable range. I am knowing that some people may think this is slightly below than the stated 80°C, but I am preferring the consistency more over the sharp temperature spikes because of the safety reasons.

AO Smith Z1 Hot+Normal UV Water Purifier

The AO Smith Z1 is coming with a UV+UF purification technology. Its temperature can be set into ambient, or warm at 45°C, or hot at 80°C, same like the previous model AO Smith Z9 Pro. The Z1 is having a large 10 litre storage capacity, which is split between a 9 litre main tank and one 0.8 litre stainless steel hot water tank. Also it is having 5 stages of purification, namely the pre-filter, then sediment filter, silver activated post carbon, UV lamp and UFSS filter which is for hot water only. Because this one is a UV-based purifier, so you must first make sure that your water source is having TDS below 200 ppm, then only the purifier will do the disinfection and filtration in effective manner.

If this is not your first water purifier, then the AO Smith Z1 could be one good option to consider, provided you are having low TDS municipal water. You are most probably already having a good idea about your local water quality, and hence you can decide by yourself whether the UV purification is sufficient for your need or not. This is because the UV+UF technology it does not reduce the TDS, and also it cannot handle heavy metals or the dissolved salts. For example, the water coming from borewell, tanker or from industrial areas, all these are having higher TDS levels, which anybody with common sense will know that it is simply not suitable for UV-only purification.
You will be noticing also that the purifier is having a slightly lower flow rate for the hot water, if we compare with the dedicated RO hot water purifiers, even though the AO Smith is claiming an overall flow rate of 30 litres per hour for normal water. And yet one more limitation is that the hot water tank of this purifier is quite small only, at 0.8 litres — something which you are not experiencing in the AO Smith Z9 Pro and also the Aquaguard Aspire Blaze.
Because the purifier it was not having any RO membrane, so the process did involve a little bit of caution while selecting the correct water source. I found that the borewell water at 450 TDS was clearly not suitable — it would have dispensed the water, but the purification quality it would get compromised — and the tanker water at 800 TDS was equally much risky. So I found that the municipal water at 120 TDS was the sweet spot, and the UV purification it was effectively eliminating 99.9% of the bacteria and viruses, to deliver safe drinking water.
Importantly though, it worked, and once I had tested the hot water function and confirmed that it is reaching a steady 78°C, then I got a genuinely useful feature for the everyday kitchen use.

I have used the hot water function and it was working well, but as my first few glasses were having one slight plastic type taste coming from the new filters, so I did let it flush around 10 litres of water first before doing the regular use. After this the water became perfect, with a really clean, mineral-enriched taste and a good temperature also on the hot output.

When we come to the hot water performance, the purifier is delivering at 80-90°C with capacity of 2 litres per minute, which is genuinely a fast one. But the cold water, this is the place where the expectations need to be managed properly. The cold water output is sitting at 15-20°C with flow rate of only 1.5 litres per hour. Because of this reason, there is one noticeable gap between what you are expecting from a “cold” label and what actually you are getting. When we tried the cold water function during peak summer time, we felt the water was cool to touch but nowhere near to refrigerator-cold. Following the manufacturer’s specification, I manually tested the cold water output also. In just under 20 minutes, the cold water had reached 18°C. Purification Performance Comparison
All water purifiers performed well. Whether it was removing contaminants from different water sources or high TDS levels, all the purifiers on this list did great with varying capacities.
TDS was not an issue for most of these water purifiers. Only the Livpure Victor had input above 2000 ppm which is 15% more than the average. BePURE 4G pH was the best in TDS handling with 3000 ppm.
Livpure Victor struggled with only 1000 ppm capacity which is 50% less than most others. Havells Gracia had the highest flow rate at 25 L/hr.
In all other tests, the water purifiers we selected were almost perfect. Bacterial and viral contamination was not an issue, mineral retention was maintained and even microplastics were removed.
Temperature Control Comparison
In the temperature control test, we test the performance of each purifier in hot and cold water operations. Purifiers that have shorter heating times and can use real cold water are rated higher in our overall testing.
To test this we time how long it takes to heat water to set temperatures and cheque the uniformity of temperature delivery over many uses.

The majority of purifiers included in this list have hot water capabilities, and only the BePURE 4G pH has real cold water dispensing. But at 15-20 0C this is not really chilled water but mild cooling.

Power Consumption Comparison
To measure power use, we keep track of electricity use in purification, heating, and standby. A power metre records the data of each mode.
The standby consumption of all purifiers with given data was similar at about 40W. At 250W, the BePURE Ace was the most efficient hot water system, 40 percent better than the average.
